Nutrition

Healthy eating is important to growing bodies and developing minds…
…………………………………………………………………………………………………….
To get good stuff out, we put good stuff in! All our meals are cooked fresh, from scratch in the nursery by our cook, using as much fresh vegetables and fruit as we can pack in!

Healthy little minds, healthy little bodies and healthy little appetites. Our approach to eating encompasses all three, with a combination of sociable mealtimes, balanced nutrition and varied, freshly prepared menus. That follows the ‘Setting the Table’ – nutritional guidance and food standards for early years childcare providers in Scotland. As well at ‘Eat Well Guide – NHS Scotland.

Menus are planned on an 4-week rotational menu, our varied menu plan around each season, which reflect diverse cultures to broaden children’s experience of the wider world.

We support mealtimes at Liberty Kids to create a happy, relaxed and sociable occasion. Children sit in small groups and we gently encourage them to try new things, introducing new tastes and textures. Children are actively involved in planting, growing and eating their own herbs and vegetables!
